Adelaide is rocking in late February with the Adelaide Fringe Festival and the Supercars season opener in town to bring a party atmosphere to the entire inner-city area. One of the highlights for many of the local collision repairers was once again PPG’s super successful events at the Supercars track. Held at the DJR Team Penske hospitality marquee, located right above the pit complex, the pre-race Thursday evening saw 100 people gather for food, refreshments and the chance to rub shoulders with current Supercars champion, Scott McLaughlin and teammate, Fabian Coulthard. It was a rare opportunity that everyone enjoyed, says Joe Esposito, PPG Refinish Business Manager SA.
“Being able to actually meet these drivers and get their autograph was a first for many people and it blew them away. Scott and Fabian kindly spent some time mingling and chatting with the crowd, they did a Q&A session, signed posters for people and then drew the raffle for our prizes. This year, five signed hats were given away, as well as the main prize of a signed bumper bar from a DJR Team Penske car. A lot of guests came up to me during the night and said they had never had an experience like this before. To top it off, we conducted pit tours on Friday, Saturday and Sunday where we took a total of 250 people through the pit bays of the PPG partnered Supercars teams. People were amazed to get a guided tour of what goes on behind the scenes. They walked away with a better understanding of what Supercars is all about and you could not wipe the smiles off their faces!”
