MOONWALK™ wins prestigious tech / innovation award

Bodyshop Magazine, in the UK, has singled out PPG's automated paint mixing technology, MoonWalk, to receive its highly respected 2020 Technology and Innovation Award.

Launched in mid-2019 after an intensive three-year development cycle, PPG’s exclusive MoonWalk technology has revolutionised the way collision repair centres operate and generate value from colour mixing operations. After being judged by a panel of 15 judges, MoonWalk went on to scoop the Technology and Innovation Award at the Bodyshop Awards. The PPG team is over-the-moon, says Matteo Carraro, PPG MoonWalk Project Manager, as he accepted the international honour during the virtual Bodyshop Awards 2020 ceremony, held in April.

“We are delighted to not only be recognised among many impressive companies as one of Bodyshop Magazine's finalists, but to win the Technology and Innovation Award is an incredibly proud moment for PPG and our team of specialists who developed MoonWalk. It took the hard work of many research and development engineers, field technicians and pilot customers to create a robust, affordable and self-contained solution that significantly reduces waste, saves productive labour time and transforms mixing rooms into safer and cleaner spaces. A big thank you to Bodyshop Magazine and all of my PPG colleagues across the globe who have been involved in this journey so far."

After conquering Europe, PPG’s MoonWalk technology is now set to revolutionise the paint mixing experience for Australian and New Zealand collision repairers. The local PPG team is gearing up to showcase the exciting possibilities and, with MoonWalk units set to be installed in PPG’s network of training centres, it will be easy to see a demonstration of this pioneering technology in action.  For more information and to see if the technology is the right fit for your business, speak to your PPG Territory Manager or the PPG Customer Service Hotline on 13 24 24 (Aust) or 0800 320 320 (NZ).
