Refinisher Issue 4: Drive Through with Paul Galea - General Manager, Refinish ANZ

You may not be familiar with the term ‘digital eco-system’ but, for collision repairers, it’s something well worth getting excited about.

Our article on page 6 gives an insight into how PPG’s Digital Customer Experience team are using it to shape the future of digital interactions across the collision repair process.

In fact, the development program has actually been going on behind the scenes for some time. For a clear example, look no further than the RapidMatch® GO spectro which smoothly works with the PaintManager XI® software and all its super complex algorithms, to help repairers get a fast and accurate colour match. In 2020 we will see the next wave when the very cool, MoonWalk® automated mixing system arrives locally. Ultimately, we believe our digital eco-system has the potential to transform the way the collision repair sector is viewed from the inside and outside. With more and more interconnected digital systems in the future, collision repair won’t just be more efficient, it will also be a very cool, tech-enhanced place where people will want to work.

I would also like to give a shout out to our finalists at the 2019 PPG International Colour Matching Competition (pg 30), as well as everyone who participated throughout the year. Feedback has been that it was another great event, with a very positive group of apprentices who were enthusiastic about improving their colour matching skills. With young people, such as these, set to play their part, the future of the industry looks a lot brighter!
