SLX-ceptional Opportunities

By delivering enhanced production speed, yet with no sacrifice in topcoat holdout, SLX Self Levelling Epoxy Primer Binder arrives as an absolute game-changer!

Over the past few years, the Commercial Performance Coatings brand has steadily upgraded technologies across the range and the latest addition takes it a huge step further. Developed and manufactured locally at PPG’s Clayton, Melbourne facility, SLX Self Levelling Epoxy Primer Binder is a high quality, two-component epoxy with a long list of features that not only make it perfect for boosting production speed, they also deliver an excellent quality of finish. Indeed, this next generation primer has been specifically formulated to be used in high productivity Wet-On-Wet (WOW) mode, explains Product Specialist, Dave Payne.

“As well as being extremely user-friendly, SLX Self Levelling Epoxy Primer Binder features excellent flow so that it leaves a silky smooth finish that requires no sanding before topcoating. Speed wise, this makes it excellent because you only need to apply it as recommended, it levels itself out and, once it has the required flash-off time, you simply apply the topcoat. There is the option to sand, if you want to, but why would you when you think about all the labour time that would go into it? Best of all, because the topcoat lays down so well over the smooth primer surface, it results in excellent gloss retention. Another big advantage is the ability to utilise the SELEMIX® universal tinter system to mix this new primer in a huge range of colours to create SLX Self Levelling Epoxy Primer Mixed Colour. It offers the opportunity to use a sympathetic colour underneath the topcoat to reduce the time it takes to achieve coverage, as well as materiel usage. A sympathetic coloured primer also means that any scratches or chips don’t stand out.”

SLX Self Levelling Epoxy Primer provides excellent adhesion, durability and corrosion protection when applied over a wide variety of substrates, including bare steel, aluminium, galvanised steel and fibre reinforced plastic. A selection of five different reducers help to achieve outstanding results in a wide spectrum of application conditions, from cold through to very hot temperatures or when dealing with larger equipment. Feedback from market trials on SLX Self Levelling Epoxy Primer have been extraordinary. With so many positives and no downsides, customers across the region are now set to get access to a productivity driven primer that creates outstanding opportunities!
