  • Steel
  • Galvanised steel
  • Magnesium
  • Various plastics
Various coatings are applied to these substrates Each coat of paint performs a particular task

OEM Paint-Layers

The 3 key layers of the paint finish consists of:
  • Primary coat
  • Filler / Intermediate coat
  • Topcoat (water or solvent based paint and Clearcoat)

OEM Paint-Drying Process

  • The high temperature (approx. 180°) drying process after application ensures that the coat is chemically cross-linked and workable, i.e. that it can be sanded.
  • The Intermediate drying process (“flash-off”) is time given for liquid components to evaporate, before further coats are applied.

Pre-treatment

  • Primarily serves to ensure good adhesion on the relevant substrate
  • Phosphate›→ Substrate adhesion
